Leucadia is a small quiet surfing town, reminiscent of California beach villages of the past, located in the southernmost county in the western United States. Leucadia is in the north coastal part of Encinitas, just south of the Batiquitos Lagoon and the City of Carlsbad.

It's an unspoiled and unchanged reminder of the era of  "Highway 101" (also known as Pacific Coast Highway or P.C.H.) 

Encinitas got its name from "Encina Canada", Spanish for "Hill of  Live Oaks" , which describes what Gaspar de Portola saw in 1669.  Leucadia was founded by British Immigrants in 1870, and named after one of the Greek Isles.  Leucadia means  "Isle of  Paradise" . Many street names, such as Neptune and Vulcan were inspired by Greek mythology.

At one time most of Leucadia was covered with avocado trees. Once recognized as the Poinsettia capital of the world, today many active flower and nursery growers continue the agricultural tradition. Surfers find Leucadia a prime spot for catching that "Perfect Wave", while everyone enjoys the fabulous and breathtaking ocean views and sunsets.
